Drug Uses
Apart from being used in the treatment of hypertension, Hytrin is also used to relieve the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH.
Usage
You may take Hytrin with or without food. But take it with food to avoid an upset stomach. You may take your first dose at bedtime. However, never take more than the 1 milligram your doctor has prescribed.
Missed Dose
Take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
Storage
Store it in a dark, cool place at room temperature. Protect from direct exposure to light and heat.
Overdose
Some of the milder symptoms of a Hytrin overdose are dizziness, light-headedness, and fainting. More severe cases may lead to shock. So seek medical attention immediately if you suspect an overdose.

Some of the typical symptoms of a Hytrin overdose may include dizziness, heart palpitations, light-headedness, and drowsiness. You may also feel light headed while getting up suddenly from a sitting or a lying position.
Warnings/Precautions
Some medical conditions may interact with Hytrin . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
if you have prostate cancer, angina pectoris, heart disease, or kidney or liver problems.
Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Hytrin . Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
Phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (eg, sildenafil) or verapamil because severe dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting may occur.
