Drug Uses

Uroxatral is used for treating symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate. It may also be used for certain conditions as determined by your doctor.

Use Uroxatral as directed by your doctor.

Take Uroxatral by mouth with food. Take with the same meal every day.
Swallow Uroxatral whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing.
Taking Uroxatral at the same time each day will help you remember to take it.
Take Uroxatral on a regular schedule to get the most benefit from it.
Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Uroxatral.
Drug Class and Mechanism

Uroxatral is an alpha-blocker. It works by blocking receptors in the lower urinary tract, causing smooth muscles in the bladder neck and prostate to relax. This relaxation improves urine flow and reduces the symptoms of BPH.

Storage

Store Uroxatral at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep Uroxatral out of the reach of children and away from pets.
